A man, Frank Cotton (Sean Chapman) finds he is given more than he bargains for when he solves the puzzle of the Lament Configuration - hidden in a chinese puzzle box which opens a doorway to hell. But Frank has discovered a way to escape the evil of the box and with the help of his ex-lover Julia, (Clare Higgins) now married to Frank's brother Larry, (Andrew Robinson) begin their scheme to free Frank from the hell which he condemned himself to by murdering local innocents so Frank can have their blood to heal himself and become whole again. Meanwhile, Frank's niece Kirsty Cotton, (Ashley Laurence) finds herself bargaining with the Cenobites, angels to some, demons to others, led by the iconic Pinhead (Doug Bradley) whose greatest pleasure is the greatest pain and are on Frank's trail for escaping their clutches.
